specializes in the growing area of behavioral sleep medicine (BMS) which focuses on the evaluation and treatment of sleep disorders by addressing behavioral, psychological, and physiological factors that interfere with sleep. She has extensive training in Cognitive Behavior Therapy for Insomnia (CBT-I) a multi-component treatment that combines several clinically proven interventions tailored to each patients particular needs. CBT-I is a standard treatment for chronic insomnia according to the American Academy of Sleep Medicine and is supported by scientific data for treating a variety of sleep disorders. Dr. Gentry is a member of both the Society of Behavioral Sleep Medicine, American Academy of Sleep Medicine, and Division 38 Health Psychology. She is facilitator of the Early Career Psychologist Group for Northern Nevada and recently was awarded a Distinguished Early Career Psychologist Award from the American Psychological Association.
Dr. Gentry strives to educate and inform her patients so they can take control of their health. It is taking knowledge of mind and body and using it to understand and help individuals cope better, manage their health problems and essentially learn to empower themselves. Dr. Gentry has extensive training in evidence based treatment including:
- Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for chronic pain, insomnia, depression, and anxiety along with various medical and mental health problems
- Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction
- Motivational enhancement for weight management, CPAP Adherence and other health concerns
- Behavioral interventions in dementia, treatment in caregiver burden/depression
- Evidence based treatment of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder.
